Terran’s Tavern was lively with chatter and laughter as countless people had gathered to forget their daily worries and just have some fun. While it was nearly impossible to stand out in such a colorful crowd, there was someone who was dressed quite differently from others. A female soldier in a full uniform was sitting at the counter with an empty glass in her hand. Her face was lit up in a bright pink blush, but embarrassment had nothing to do with it. Victoria Locke was once again wasting time while waiting for her next assignment. Several times during the evening she had considered starting a bar fight, just to ease her boredom, but had always decided it wasn’t worth it. She half-cursed, half-swore that none of these lousy chumps could even give her a challenge. Even in her drunken train of thought, there was a grain of truth. No one in this tavern would last long against a well-trained soldier, well, not when she was sober at least. So, in her utter boredom, she had chosen to kill time in the only way she knew besides fighting and sleeping... By drinking until the room started to spin. So far the simple plan was working, somewhat. The bored soldier had already forgotten what time it was and she was mildly amused by looking at the antics of various dumbasses scattered around the bar. Now, if only there was someone to actually chat with. Sitting alone was getting old fast. Victoria’s thoughts were interrupted and she glanced to her side when a big, burly sailor sat next to her, accidentally brushing against her. He didn’t even notice it, but the drunken soldier tilted her head and smirked as a devious idea popped into her mind. Suddenly, she leaned towards him and whispered. "Hey, tough guy... You got pretty close there..." She cupped and squeezed her chest, smiling like a content cat. "Do you maybe want a piece~ of me?" Her grin suddenly grew bigger, revealing a set of sharp frighteningly teeth. "Or..." The drunken woman leaned even closer and cracked her knuckles. "Do you want a piece of me?" While she was having a fit of drunken snickers, the aforementioned sailor just gave her an odd look and switched to a different stool. Victoria only snorted before turning back to the counter. "Well, I thought it was funny..."Brushing the little incident off her mind, Victoria snapped her fingers and pointed at her glass. "Hey! Bartender! Another one of those whatchacallits!" The volume of her yells was more than enough to get her heard and her voice had gained a mild singsong tone instead of turning slurred. Being drunk had nothing to do with botching the name. She had called the sweet, but undeniably strong drink that ever since she had gotten the first one and decided she couldn’t pronounce the name right. The bartender understood her well enough anyway, so why bother? Upon getting her drink, Victoria only yelled a half-slurred "cheers~" before downing it with one big gulp. After setting the glass down, her gaze remained on the ceiling, focused on something that probably wasn’t even there. Slowly, her chair started tipping backwards, until it was too slow to stop it. Most of the tavern didn’t even notice, or care, as the drunken soldier hit the floor with a light thud. Even Victoria herself didn’t seem to care if her mindless snickering was anything to go by. The room was certainly spinning now. She wasn’t getting off the floor anytime soon, not without any help at least. Tagged: -- Words: 625 Notes: Party time? Her eyes were half-closed and teeth in full display as she stared at the man. His words received no response at first, but after short pondering the woman slowly lifted her arm up. On her first attempt, she actually managed to completely miss the helping hand. Her fingers just lazily grasped the air before flopping back to the floor. It was almost like she had tried to grab something else from thin air. Luckily, the second try was more successful and Victoria managed to take firm hold of the hand offered to her. The grinning soldier pulled herself up, accepting the man’s help completely. However, she almost collapsed forward the second she got back on her feet and had to grab the stranger’s arms for support. Their size difference meant nothing to her. After a short moment of unsteady wobbling she regained balance and glanced at her helper. She took her time sizing up the man before finally opening her mouth. Her breath reeked of the sweet sea fruit alcohol. "So, are you guys like twins or do you just like dressing the same?" The curiosity in her tone was completely honest, although her crooked grin remained unwavering. However, apparently she wasn’t interested enough to actually wait for answer. Instead, she pushed herself back to the counter before the man could even have a chance to speak. Paying seemingly no mind to the helpful soldier, she lifted her glass and downed yet another drink... or at least she tried. It took few seconds for her to realize that the glass was empty. Slapping the counter, she ordered for the umpteenth time tonight. "Bartender! Another one of those... thingies..." At this point, even the bartender seemed to hesitate, probably wondering if it was a good idea to make this woman any less stable. While waiting for her drink, Victoria lifted her head and stared at tall soldier. "Whadda ya want anyway, pretty boy?" She punctuated the question and the nickname by jabbing her finger against the man’s chest. Unfortunately, there still wasn’t enough time to answer. Out of the blue, her grin and eyes got much wider as a powerful realization dawned on her. "Wait a sec... I know you, you sneaky bastard!" Mere seconds after the exclamation, Victoria realized something else and her grin returned to more normal proportions. "Wait, no beard... Never mind..." She muttered in mild disappointment and slumped against the counter. Sure, she knew pretty well what others, especially high command, thought of her, but never before had someone actually said it face to face. Most soldiers only talked behind her back or wrote it in the reports, those cowards. Just as Zeikfried had accused, Victoria was about to argue and complain, but the sudden motion made her stay silent. Her mouth shrunk into a thin line, not quite a childish pout, but not far from it either. She turned her eyes towards her glass and squeezed it with both hands while listening. Even after the speech was over, she remained silent for a while. Finally, Victoria lifted her gaze from the glass and turned to face the blond man. She revealed her teeth again with an amused grin and stood up. Her feet were bit steadier now and voice was simply dripping with focused sarcasm. "You have made excellent points, good sir. Allow me to present my humble rebuttal." In a heartbeat, she swung her fist in a quick hook, aiming to deck the man in the nose. Even under the influence she was faster and stronger than the average bar dweller, like a good soldier should be. If the hit landed, it would’ve been enough to knock most men to the floor. After the brief 'rebuttal', Victoria calmly sat down, as if nothing unusual had happened. She casually glanced at the tall soldier, still grinning mischievously at him. "That means no by the way." The sarcasm was mostly gone, but she didn’t even attempt to hide her clear dislike towards the man. Tapping her glass, she tried to order once again. "Hey bartender! Another!" Unfortunately for her, the bartender was on Zeikfried’s side and pretended to completely ignore the drunken soldier. For the first time during the whole night, Victoria openly frowned. Even the rowdy and mouthy soldier had her limit. She turned to Zeikfried and gritted her teeth while resisting the urge to punch him again. At the very least, this time she was going to speak her mind before doing it. "Tch, you’ve got a lot of nerve coming here and ruining my night, sir killjoy." To be honest, she hadn’t actually figured out Zeikfried was the one who had cut her booze line, but she was going to blame him for her misfortune anyway. "So I’m not allowed to have fun, huh?" Her urge to attack was constantly rising, but a small miracle allowed her to resort to only yelling for now. "You don’t know half of the stuff I go through!" Being intoxicated wasn’t exactly good for her already violent nature. "Just who the hell do you think you are!?"Tagged: Zeikfried Words: 456 Notes: Punchy, punchy! She was two seconds away from telling the white-clad soldier to get lost and punching him again. Then, Mr. Bernard introduced himself as the Captain and Victoria’s thoughts simply vanished. Despite her current state, it didn’t take long for the realization to fully sink in. The pink blush was turning brighter and redder by each moment. Soon, her cheeks were literally glowing with embarrassment and the only voice she managed to get out was fragments of nervous chuckling. She silently thanked her luck that the man didn’t seem to be angry. For now, she chose to just remain silent and listen. Understanding all of it was a whole different thing though. Hearing all the impressive names only gained a small smirk from her. "Arrogant pricks... All of them..." Alcohol had nothing to do with her speaking, or muttering, her honest opinion about them. She had never been the kind of girl to filter her thoughts, which was admittedly the biggest reason she kept getting into trouble. Yet, here this guy was, offering her, one of the biggest troublemakers in Terran military, a job anyone would be honored to have. There were a hundred things she wanted to ask, some more sarcastic than others. Without saying a word, she slapped her hands against the counter and stood up, looking unusually serious. She tried to straighten her back while letting go of the counter. The spinning room wasn’t making it any easier and the soldier spent few seconds swaying before managing to steady her wobbling feet. She clicked her heels together and lifted her hand into a salute. "Victoria Locke at your service, Captain." Just as she had finished saying that, she collapsed back onto her chair. After a short moment of remaining silent, she turned towards the Captain and flashed her usual toothy grin. "Means yes..." She had felt the need to clarify her answer, mostly for herself though. "So~ What are your first orders~ Captain~?" When she tried to lean forward enticingly, she only managed to lose her balance and had to grab the Captain for support again. After clinging onto him for a while, she lifted her head and stared him deep into the eyes while her mouth twisted into a catlike smile. "I think I could get used to this... You know, holding you..." She pushed herself off, head swaying from side to side. "Punching you..." Rambling on, she aimed another jab at the man, this time at his chest, but it lacked the power of serious punch. "Whatever~!" The yell further assisted her joke attack in obnoxiousness. She slumped back onto the counter in another fit of drunken giggles. "Aye aye sir~!" She was rather happy to find a full glass in front of her again and downed it even faster than the last ones. Right after that, her forehead actually hit the counter, but laughing only continued. It took few minutes for her to remember the last part of the orders, an offer to alleviate some of her curiosity. Raising her head, she brushed her hair away from her eyes. Random giggles bubbled between her words. "Oh yeah, I have one... one question..."She stopped after needlessly repeating herself and reached for yet another drink. Her hands were shaking as she emptied the glass and accidentally slammed it against the counter. At this point though, she didn’t even seem to care. She turned towards her new superior and tried to focus on his eyes, all six of them. "There’s this rumor... this rumor I heard..." It wasn’t that talking was getting any harder. She was actually struggling to remember what she was going to say. Of course, it didn’t even cross her mind that waiting for tomorrow would be the best choice. Clearing her throat, Victoria tried to stop the chuckles and ask something seriously for a change, but that was only partially successful. "Is it true you..." She reached towards Zeikfried’s shoulder, as if trying to confirm he was real. "you haven’t killed..." Her head swayed from side to side with each word. "like..." Blank spots were constantly popping up in her mind, making her struggle even more just to get a simple sentence out. "like anyone?" It was a question of absolute disbelief. Victoria couldn’t even imagine why a soldier wouldn’t kill. In her mind it was so ridiculous that if she had been any less intoxicated, she wouldn’t even have asked. This was one of the more persistent rumors she had heard after all. She leaned closer and adopted a more focused expression in place of the mad grin. When Zeikfried lifted his finger, her ruby eyes widened slightly in surprise. Her cheeks lit up bit more and a faint smile visited her lips. There was something strangely enchanting in his touch, a sensation she couldn’t describe. Maybe it simply felt good to be treated like a comrade instead of like a walking powder keg for once, or perhaps it was something more. When Zeikfried finished his explanation, there was a short moment of silence. "I... see..." Victoria started awkwardly. She was doing her best to understand, but in the end, she made her own deductions. "Well, I’m glad that... you’ve got balls, Cap." She nodded while patting Zeikfried on the back and soon took another drink. When the glass was empty, she almost fell backwards again. Luckily, she managed to sway back forward just as abruptly and it even seemed she had learned something from her earlier accident. "Wheee~ I think... that... that’s enough." She pushed the glass aside, getting ready to leave, but even standing up was a struggle and walking away even more so. After few steps, Victoria spun around for a wave and a goodbye. "See you later, Cap’n~" She had barely finished that when her wobbly feet tangled into each other and she tripped. There was sudden thud and a painful crack as a thick skull met the floor. It might’ve been the fall that left her sprawled on the floor, or the night of drinking finally caught up to her, but she was completely out cold. Despite the nature of her sleep, she snoozed away peacefully while occasional drops of drool fell from the corner of her mouth. She wouldn’t wake up before the morning with the mother of all headaches. Now the question was... Where exactly would she wake up? Tagged: Zeikfried Words: 338 Notes:This is the last post for Victoria in this thread, but Zeikfried is free to do as he pleases.
